SPEAKER OF PARLIAMENT, UENR-SRC (RT. HON. BAAH A. E. LORD) SENDS EASTER MESSAGE TO ALL TECHNOLOGIANS
Rt. Hon. Baah Acheamfour Lord Ebenezer Speaker of Parliament, uenr-src |
Fellow Technologians
Easter is a moment to reflect and an important time for Christians and others to gather together with families and friends.
This year, after a period of observations and pondering over the right future for our Students front, there is a sense of coming together in uniting behind the opportunities that lie ahead.
For at heart, this SRC is one great union of students with a proud history and a bright future. And as we face the opportunities ahead of us, the opportunities that stem from our decision to leave the University and embrace the world, our shared interests, our shared ambitions, and above all our shared values can, and must, bring us together.
I want to use this opportunity to show my gratitude to God and the gallant originals for making a long dream a living reality. I remember a year today in the history of our journey to achieve a common goal of which with God and selfless dedication of The Originals it manifested.
Pondering on the ups and downs, the long distance walk, the accident of a lady who got hurt on the finger by a hit of a car door, the total declination of GPAs, the humiliation we went through on Dormaa Campus, the all night sitting of drafting policies and manifesto, the hatred we called upon ourselves, the insults, just to mention few. Sets my heart ablaze with gratitude.
Knowing this far is by God and the unity, love, selfless dedication and hard work that took us through our campaign era and comparing to the unity, love, selfless dedication and hard work now in running the SRC administration gives me comfort of achieving one of the most memorable development UENR-SRC has long anticipated.
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ brought about oneness between mankind and God, and I thank God we built the foundation of The Originals on this legacy our LORD Jesus Christ thought us.
I pray His death and resurrection brings about divine wisdom and knowledge in governing the SRC.
One of my favorite quote states: Every honor giving to you to serve people, is a divine stage given to deliver or perform and after your delivery or performance, you will only be remembered with the legacy and impact you made.
So I entreat my fellow SRC officers to have a sense of responsibility and an owing debt of quality governance rooted in truth, fairness, firmness, braveness, boldness, transparency, accountability and above all prioritizing Students interest to pay.
This Easter I think of those values that we share, values that I learnt in my own childhood, growing up in a Christian family. Values of compassion, community, citizenship. The sense of obligation we have to one another.
These are values we all hold in common, and values that are visibly lived out everyday by Christians, as well as by people of other faiths or none.
I think of those who go out of their way to visit the sick or bereaved, providing comfort and guidance to many in our university and the country at large at some of the most difficult moments in their lives. I think of the sacrifices and service of aid workers who put themselves in harm’s way to bring much-needed relief.
We should celebrate all these contributions and others like them, and the difference they make in our society and around the world.
In doing so, we should be confident about the role that Christianity has to play in the lives of people in our country.
And we should treasure the strong tradition that we have in this country of religious tolerance and freedom of speech.
We must continue to ensure that people feel able to speak about their faith, and that absolutely includes their faith in Christ. We must be mindful of Christians and religious minorities around the world who do not enjoy these same freedoms, but who practise their religion in secret and often in fear.
And we must do more to stand up for the freedom of people of all religions to practice their beliefs openly and in peace and safety.
So this Easter, whatever our faith, let us come together as a people and a nation confident in our values, and united in our commitment to fulfil the obligations that we have to one another.
Let us work together to build that brighter future we want for our country. And let us together build a stronger, fairer Ghana that truly does work for everyone. And let me wish you all a very happy Easter.
I will conclude by saying "EBENEZER" this is how far the Lord has brought us let us delight in it and be thankful to His companionate love upon mankind.
Happy Easter fellow Technologians🤝
